Door order and installation help!

Door buyers or anyone wanting a door installation please beware of the company you choose...

Placed an order for a door from Yale Door back in October, so it would be in time for when I moved into to my new home. The door came up to over £1000 (which included making the door, key free, letter box, door knocker, accessories and installation). The door on the property does not close properly, is damaged and the door looks as if it has seen better days.

For my order to be processed in 10 working-days time I was told an engineer would be at the property for the survey. As I work in the SE (of London) I had to find my way to the property in North London. Took the day off work as the only day they could do was a week day - I was all excited and bushy tailed as I waited for the door to be installed (Monday 1st November).

To my disappointment, the engineer who came to install the door resurveyed and said there was a problem with the survey done by the last engineer and the door frame cannot be fitted. It took another week to have the door remade and the engineer came around a Saturday to fit the door.

This time there was a problem with remake by Yale Door - while the frame would fit the door could would not be able to open and close easily - and the door upon opening could ruin my carpets. Evander took the door back. Spoke to Yale Door who said they would need to launch an investigation about the door - they came back to say it would take another week for the door to become available to Evander to fit. That would take us to December 1st. (That's one month after the day the door was first meant to be installed for those of you who are losing the will...!)

Received a call from Evander who say they can only fit the door (another day in the week) which works out to be 10 days after they receive the door from Yale Door - as this time of year is their busiest time of year! Which was one of the reasons I ordered the door all the way back in October.

I have offered them the Friday 3rd or Tuesday 7th December - both days they cannot do. They say failing the week day or the days leading up to Christmas (even up to the 24 December) they could do any Saturday in January! I have used up all my leave entitlements and this time is really busy at the office...

I haven't seen any reviews anywhere for YaleDoor and they carry a widely reputed name - so I thought this would be useful to others when making a decision...propsective buyers, please beware!

Any advice whatsoever for a woman at the end of her teather would be appreciated :(

We were considering using Yale doors for a new composite front door, then I saw your post. May I ask how you got on in the end, and which supplier you used?
