Best MP3 for £50?

In my role of deputy Father Christmas I need to buy an MP3 player but I know absolutely nothing about them!

Could some kind soul tell me whether there's a good general all round one available for about £50?

Sansa make some decent cheap players with a decent feature set:

I also love Sony's W series, not sure if I'd describe it as an all-rounder, but it's certainly worth looking at as an unusual option.

If you're happy with a simple (non-touchscreen) one then the Clip+ is definitely one to go for.

Don't pay £40+ for a 4GB model when Amazon have the 8GB one on sale at less than £39, delivered free!
