We have just started using our power shower but it does appear to be mixing the hot and cold to get the right temp. It is either too hot or too cold.
Can anyone help?

I had this problem in a brand new build student complex. When it was looked at I was told the pipes and wires were the wrong way round, are you able to get someone to take a look at the instalment?:)0

It could be that the hot/cold feeds are the wrong way round or it could be that the supplies are unbalanced or it could be that (if its a thermostatic shower) that the cartridge is borked.
New installation or old?

Imagine the shower is running and you adjust the control to get warmer water.
In a thermostatic shower, the thing decides it needs more hot water to achieve the desired temperature.
Because the inlet pipes are reversed, more cold water comes into the mixer.
But the thermostatic thingy inside says "I need more hot water", and opens the cold inlet valve further. Thus water gets colder and colder.
So, starting again, if you request the 'thing' to produce a cooler flow, it opens the cold water inlet but gets hot water. To achieve the desired temperature, it request more cold water but gets more hot.
Therefore you can see that the outlet water temperature will either be very hot or very cold.
Is that your symptom?
Just to add...
As soon as the water flow is turned on, the thermostatic module will want to make a slight adjustment the temperature and it will rapidly become extremely hot or cold... as explained above.0
