I purchased a Panasonic plasma tv model TX-P42S10B October 2009.
Just one month out of 12 month warranty it developed a fault.
When trying switch on tv the red standby light flashes but the tv does not come on. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Standby light flashes 7 times, pauses then 7 times again. Purchased at Currys.

Have you contacted the unnamed seller or are you a 1 post wonder?

Yes. Mine also turns off sometimes. I hold down the on button on the remote, stop, and then repeat it again until it comes back on. Sometimes take a few times doing that but it always come back on again. Doesn't that work for you? I bought mine in 2007 and still have a couple years of warranty left but have never bothered seeing about it.

Have had a look online and there are a few with similar faults. Looks like a power supply problem. I might have to see if I can get mine fixed whil still under warranty.

Purchased at Currys store. I have been in contact with Currys customer service to arrange inspection of TV by one of their Tech guys. For out of warranty claim.

    Hello.

The very same happened to me with an LG 42" Plasma tv after just ninety days,it was taken in for repair and two days later we got a phone call saying that the TV could not be repaired,we got our money back and brought a 42" LCD television.

At the time it happened i googled the problem and like the other poster had said i found that there were quite a few people who had experienced the very same problem with there Tvs.

Our problem was the same as yours one day the Tv whilst the children were watching it just went into standby and would not come off it,when we turned it off and back on again it gave four clicks and then just switched itself back off.

Good luck in getting it repaired.

Just an update on how am progressing with my Panasonic TV problem.
Phoned Curry's customer services 26th November to arrange TV to be collected. I was called back 7th December informed the earliest TV could be collected 12th December.TV collected 12th December. By 24th December no contact from Curry's customer services so I called them and was informed that my TV was repaired and would be delivered that day. By 27th December no TV and no call. I phoned again and was told that TV was still in repair lab and adviser would call back later in day with information on repair progress. So far no one has called back.

Somebody today said to me at work, "hah, the free extended warranty you offer doesn't make a difference, these things never go wrong unless it's within the first year."

I guess this proves them wrong.

Update of TV repair. Eventually received call 6th January confirming TV manufacturing defects were being repaired free of charge.
No further contact by 27th January so I called customer service and was told the TV is being delivered today and no one knows why I was not called with delivery day and time. TV arrived 3pm 27th January 2 months after reporting fault. I was without the TV for 2 months and customer service cant explain why it has taken so long or why I was not kept informed on progress.
However I can now hope that I now have a reliable TV. My experiance of Currys after sales service leaves me doubtful if I will shop in their stores again. My thanks to all who have replied to this post.
