Worth Switching from BG to NPower?

I am currently on BG Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel, fixed monthly direct debit.

After doing a price check, on current prices I could save over £100 a year by switching to NPower Sign Online 20.
However, this would tie me in until December 2011.

What happens when they put their prices up before then - am I free to move without penalty?
Should I wait until their next price rise so that it is a level playing field?

Advice welcomed.

  • NPower are only power company to have made no announcement of an increase or if they're going to stand pat with prices as they are. I heard a rumour, and I've found nothing from Npower that confirms this rumour, that they will be announcing their decision within the next 10 days as to what their position is going to be. So far BG, Scottish Power and Southern Electric have increased costs. EDF and Eon have not, and over the next few months will not be implementing increases. So may be worth seeing what happens with Npower, as once out of cooling off they can charge you the £40 to cancel Sign Online 20.
