Fridge freezer fault outside of warranty

In August 2006 I purchased a £600 LG American style fridge freezer with ice maker from Dixons.co.uk. Everything has been great about the appliance except the ice maker which has been quite temperamental over the the past year.
Until now small issues like getting crush on both the cube and crush settings, but only for a few days at a time. Also as the ice tray fills the water splashes down the inside of the freezer a bit, this I've discovered was an issue with the design which LG now fixes.
Couple of days ago the ice tray which usually empties into the hopper every 3-4 hours if required has been every 20min, before the water freezes. This turns the ice into one huge lump, and when no ice is in the hopper it just runs out the dispenser onto the floor. I came home yesterday to find my wooden floor flooded as it had been doing it all day. I've had to switch it off as I don't feel happy at leaving it to flood the place while I'm out.
LG provides a 2yr warranty which I'm quite a bit beyond, however is it reasonable to expect a £600 appliance of this nature which has had light/normal use to last more than 4 years before partly failing?
I'm not up on where I stand with this so any advice would be appreciated.
