TV - does the warranty start from date of order or date of delivery?

My husband ordered a TV from Currys website last year on November 25th. The TV was delivered to us on 28th November. The TV has stopped working and my husband has today telephoned Currys. We thought we were lucky as assumed we had a couple of days before the warranty was due to run out but have been told by Currys that the warranty begins when you pay for the product, not from the date of delivery.
Does anyone have any experience of this or any knowledge of the terms of the warranties please?
Thanks ever so much, we are really grateful! This is causing some marital disharmony as I wanted him to buy it from JLP not Currys!

I would have thought the sensible time for it to start would have been the date you first have it in your hands - otherwise you're potentially going to lose days/weeks/months of warranty if they can't deliver for for days (or if it's a pre-order and they charge in advance*)
I would also have have hoped that with it only being a day or so after the anniversary of purchase they would have used some common sense.
This is however Dixons group, whose customer service I've never enjoyed any luck with, even on the most clear cut cases (i stopped using them completely about 5 years ago, having stopped using them for anything expensive years earlier)
*If Argos took that stance, anyone who pre-ordered stuff would lose huge chunks of their warranty (the last item I pre-ordered from them was a Wii, they charged the card straight away months in advance).0 -
I'd have said date of deliverySquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

I would suggest that you phone them back and suggest that they read their own T&C's.You always have the option of an exchange or refund if the fault occurs within 28 days of delivery. If the fault with your product occurs within its guarantee period (normally 12 months from delivery) we will offer you a prompt repair service*. In all cases we reserve the right to inspect the product and verify the fault.

Thanks soooo much for this. I spent ages on their webiste looking for the guarantee terms and conditions and couldn't find them, they obviously keep them well hidden.
Have now written a letter quoting their own guarantee terms back to them and will wait and see what they say.
Irrespective, my husband has learnt his lesson and will never again be purchasing anything of value from Currys. If this had been purchased from JLP we would have had no problems.0 -
Usually with items from Currys, it is from date of purchase. Most warranties run a year/two years (etc...) from the date on your receipt. As you item was purchased online, I assume they will go from the date that your order was processed and payment authorised. This can be especially annoying for customers who opt for a later delivery (maybe weeks/months in advance - and they still lose out on the warranty!)0
