car scraped due to malfunction of electric gates

I parked at my friends flat that has an underground car park with electric gates. I was a known malfunction that sometimes only one opened. This happened with me and I tried to get out the one as the second refused to open and there was no other way to get out and scraped my car. Can I claim against them due to the gate malfunction?
If so how would I go about it?

Short answer... no. You drove into one of their gates... they could claim from you for damage to the gate!0
