how about getting a portrait done of you and your daughter or just your daughter if you did not want to be in it?0

I've got my OH a star wars lego set this year. I believe that toys, in some form or another, for christmas are a must (what else do you do on xmas day??). He'll love it cause he's into model type things, star wars and playing star wars lego game (i know - he's 32!!).
I also love all the meccano, k'nex etc sets you can get. If he's got a slightly child-ish streak in him then he may appreciate this sort of stuff.
good luck - it can be tough sometimes.
PS other gadgets to get if he doesn't already have them:
blue tooth headset
a usb toy (m&s did some great ones last year)
an ipod port0 -
I would dearly love to book us a weekend away as so many have suggested but the only problem is our daughter. She is coming up 3 on dec 20th and trying to find someone to look after her would be a nightmare at this stage. I expect my mum would but it means her using up her own holiday time to have our little one which is not very fair. I will keep thinking and maybe sort out a day away somewhere!!0

I was going to say get a really nice photo of your daughter, you & your daughter or the dog (or all 3 options!) and get it made into a canvas or a set of 3 canvasses.
I am getting one done for my partner for our anniversary of his beloved dog! She's a cutie so it wasn't hard to take a cute photo of her! I then went on ebay and bought a 10 x 8 canvas - you just send them your photo by email and they print it onto a box canvas. The canvas only cost me £14 incl postage. You can go for the really huge ones if you have more money to spend and want to make a real impact.
I'm sure that if he has all the material things he'll love something so personal.
Is he into culture? A piece of artwork, a visit to London's best museums/art galaries, a book or 2, a special edition dvd of his favourite film etc etc
I personally would go for something very personal to him as it will mean more to him than the latest gadget if he's already got everything. We’ve had to remove your signature. Ive decided to do a Memory book for him, as he seems to have everything this is something he wont have!!
I have bought a scrap book from boots which they forgot to charge me for oopps.
I have spent the whole afternoon digging out photo's of when we had our first night out together, love letters he sent me, cards, and I have asked his dad to sort out some baby pictures from birth up to his teenage years.
Can anyone else think of anthing else I can put in and to make it look a little more colourful???0 -

That's a great idea and a bargain too! Do you have the seller ID of the person - I searched for 'canvas and photo' to no avail."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
Tickets for concerts you have seen,
A list of the number 1 songs when he was born or 1st date
Pictures of holidays/airline tickets/travel passes
With some wording around the pictures with dates, what it was, who is in it etc
Good luck

Hi Georgina
If you search for 'your photo canvas' it will come up with loads of options. I can't really recommend this particular seller yet because I haven't seen the quality of the canvas (I only ordered in on Sunday) but there are loads of people doing this on Ebay. Watch out for ones with lots of positive feedback (obvious) and also the prices vary massively - some of them are plain, as in just the canvas, and some of them are 'boxed' which means that they are stretched onto the wooden frames and ready to hang.
You can also get various sizes upto huge ones (only certain sellers offer these as most standard printers cannot print larger than A3). But if you are going for a larger size make sure that you check that your photo is not pixelised at that size - ask them to proof it before they print it. Otherwise you will get a very dodgy effect! You can also check this yourself by going into your photo software, click on image size and it should give you the option of 'actual size' or 'print size' - if you click on one of these and it looks blury, you probably need to reduce the size of the image as there is not enough detail in it. Once reduced, it should look ok.
If you specifically want a very large canvas you should take your photo with a digital camera using the highest possible setting (ie my camera is 6 million) this means that the photo will have more detail to it so when it is printed at a larger size it should still look clear and not pixelised.
Hope that helped.
