Laptop or Ipad?

Sorry for the delay in replying, been away for a few days.
I'm not an expert on computer maintenance (as you might've guessed), but surely if you have a laptop with lots of components and use it heavily for nearly five years, some of those components might not work as well as they once did?
I installed avast and not much else when I'd reinstalled Windows. The web browsers were just as before. It really is only a problem with video, all other browsing is just about manageable.
I have this week invested in a new laptop and donated the other one to a friend who doesn't have one. There's no need to be struggling with five year old hardware and getting frustrated when I could just buy a new laptop with faster processor, more memory, better graphics and so on. Even if the hardware was working as well as the first time it was used, it's still pretty outdated these days. I suppose I haven't taken the best money saving solution, but it's the easiest option for me.
Five years use out of a laptop isn't too bad, can't complain really. :money:0 -
The only component that could possibly wear out and cause slowness is the hard disk, if that happens, you'd notice many more symptoms. Startup software is the main cause of slowness, not capacitors.!!

Fair enough. I read that the hard drive was the most likely thing to wear out due to all the revolutions per minute when switched on. Like I said before, I don't want to start replacing parts when new laptops have much better specs anyway. Software is only going to get more bloated and require more CPU usage and memory so thought I'd just bite the bullet and get the new laptop now.
Thanks for taking the time to reply so many times closed. :money:0 -
I love my ipad. But for anything more than browsing, playing games, and reading. You want a laptop.Sigless0
