Lovely house, don't you get a lot for your money in Oldham?! What's it like up there?
Oldham is a bit of a sh*thole. But this house is located near (in) Saddleworth and the moors which I guess is classed as being in Oldham area, but is a really beautiful part of Oldham that you wouldn't think of as Oldham, if you see what I mean. Right next to the peaks too.
And even though you have all that countryside you're a 25 minute drive from Central Manchester.0 -

I agree. It has a lovely entrance but everything else just seems like you'd spend all day walking up and down corridors. It's far too long and thin. Is it converted from several small cottages?
Also, it looks as though it would be dreadful to pop out for a loaf of bread and some milk in the snow. Stevie may have to brush up on his survival skills from the windowlicking thread.... There is a train station in lovely Greenfield village (that has a line into Manchester Victoria) which is about one mile from the property. BTW I believe this part of Oldham has been in the West Riding of Yorkshire in the past, and may even still be classed as part of Historic Yorkshire but it falls within the MB of Oldham.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. It always makes me smile when people sum up Manchester, or indeed any other metropolitan area, with a single term such as 'dump'.
Greater Manchester has a population of over 2.5 million people covers an area of about 500 square miles. Within that you have city areas of extreme poverty, cheap as anything houses and high crime and also stunning villages with beautiful countryside and multi-million pound properties. You then obviously get everything inbetween. Urban, rural, busy, quiet, village, city, town, water, tarmac, fields, concrete... etc. etc. There are some areas of Manchester I'd not wish on my worst ememy and other areas that 99% of the population would love to live. Just depends where you look.
Summing up a place that big and varied as a 'dump' is a bit misleading, and you can apply that to Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, London or any other large metropolitan area.0
