two week winter rent break?

Lat year my council did a two week rent break over x-mas, I'm going to phone them tonight to see if they are doing it again this year. Was this a nationwide thing or just with my council?

We get a 2 week rent break over xmas, have lived here over 4 yrs and have had it every year up to now so maybe it could be a nationwide thing not sure.Unless we live under the same council haha!

Most Councils/Housing Associations do it, its not free really, as the other 52 weeks, you pay a little bit extra to cover the rent free weeks, the council/housing association are being crafty, as they know that if any one is going to be in trouble with there rent, it will be those two weeks.

If you are on HB, or if you owe rent you will not get these two weeks rent free.

when you receive benefits with our council you have to pay your water rates yourself so the people who receive benafits also get two weeks free but its water rates free week if you get what I mean. I love rent free weeks £200 in my pocket yipeeeee,we also get one in august if my memory serves me rightly.

  • Yes, just phoned up and its two weeks free here for the weeks 20th and 27th Dec, excellent, don't need to pay anything until late Jan!

But that money will be going towards gifts, Dec is going to be a lot easier now!
