Want to make a book!!

cheap-n-cheerful

My friend has been treavelling around New Zealand for the past year and has emailed me about her adventures. So for Xmas I want to print the emails with a few photos or pictures from web links she has sent me to make a story of her trip. Thought this would be a nice keepsake for her. But dont know how to best do it. I've got one of those pocket display books for 99p which would do but not quite the glamourous finish I was hoping for and can't do a front cover on it. Printing as a proper book seems way too pricey unless anyone has any money saving ideas? Help.

I will be rich :rotfl:

Hello! This link has some ideas on how to make the book itself (ie it shows you what you need to make and cover a hardback-style book etc). You could then get creative with a bit of cut-and-pasting to make the pages and cover themselves, with snippets of emails and corresponding pictures. I think making someone a personalised book is a lovely idea - I might have a go myself!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Thanks Snaggles. Great website. Will have a look see if I can use some artistic flair! Any other ideas still greatfully received. I really want a good looking book that she can show to her kids when she has some, maybe even kids with her new boyfriend she met while on her travels...who knows.I will be rich :rotfl:0

I do scrapbooking and I know that this isn't exactly what you're looking for but I find these sites great for artistic ideas :

just take a browse through the galleries HTH0 -
Have you looked at https://www.lulu.com for self-publishing one copy? As far as I know, they don't do pictures. It all depends on the number of pages, but you should be able to do something for around £10-£20.
If you wanted to use a display book, I'd have a look around at office stationers, because I would think you could find a display book with a clear pocket in the front for you to insert the cover artwork.
Oh, and have you spoken to anyone at a photocopy shop - they usually offer binding services for things like reports.0 -
Thanks for that you guys! Will go to some stationary shops and see what they have on offer. And try photocopying shops too. Lulu site looks good and fact that they will do one copy is a bonus as most wont..but it is in USA which worries me slightly for posting here.I will be rich :rotfl:0

Has anyone used Lulu for publishing?.
Just taken a look and it seems really good. DD has been making up stories and drawing pics for them, it would be a great to get one published for a xmas gift.0 -

I agree with the others use the e-mails and pictures to create a scrapbook, it can be done cheaply and if you use your imagination you could create a lovley keepsake. Your Friend will love it.
