I also tend to wear short skirts with tights rather than jeans every day no matter what I'm doing

Interesting - I would never consider wearing tights at home as decent tights are pricey and even if good quality I am lucky to get 3 uses before a hole / ladder appears. Holey tights under trousers are entirely acceptable though!

Very occasionally I have a skanky Sunday (unwashed hair, jeans and a fleece) but only on days that I can hide from the world, but on reflection it feels like a bit of a wasted day if I don't go out / receive visitors. Otherwise I prefer to be done up first thing in the morning and ready for anything!

Sorry for being a bit thick, but having just read this thread with great interest, what does OS mean?

    Thanks

OS stands for Old Style. We have our own board and do stuff like cook from scratch, sewing, knitting and try to live on minimum spend!

Funny that this thread has popped up. I've been thinking about this for a while. Summer I'm fine for as I have lots of lovely dresses (and I still manage to do the housework when I'm wearing them!) but in the winter, I get so cold. I'm a pear shape with a very small frame on top. A line skirts suit me best but they need a bit of structure to the material, like tweed or cord or denim. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find some skirts like these? I know I'd feel better. I lived in short pleated skirts with thick tights when I was younger but now I'm a wife and Mum and have other things to do, I need more length to my skirts. It would never do to flash my knicks getting in or out of the car.
I really MUST get my hair done too, I've been cutting it myself for far too long now. Things have got to change. I do try to wear make up every day and I like the way it makes me look and feel. Perfume is a big boost too.

I think the best old style tip though is to have a pinnie! I have a glam waisted one for normal day to day housework and a full PVC one for wet jobs and cooking.
I am on the look out for a nice coat too, preferably a knee length belted swing style in a darker colour. It has to be warm though. I hate being cold!
