Is something wrong with my heated windscreen?

For some reason, when de-icing my (ford) heated front windscreen it leaves approx 3-inch block of ice down the very middle of the screen from top of car to bonnet, (and sometimes a 1-inch line of mist across the drivers view when de-misting)
I think all the elements are working, but does your heated windscreen miss bits or evenly?

The Ford system is in two halves - one side could be starting to fail.0

I had a fiesta with heated front screen too, it doesnt demist evenly at the same time i have found, sometimes it takes longer in some part than others.
Maybe it could be down to different level on condensation/ice on different part of the screen or the element isnt working as well in some parts.0 -
Chances are one or more elements have failed. For me its a 2" strip just in front of the drivers seat - a bit irritating0

My replacement screen is not nearly as good as the original. There is the 1" strip in the middle but some of the elements do not clear as quickly as others.0

My screen, 2004 Focus, has a 2" strip just to the right of my vision.
Either way it still works so much better than any other system I have ever come acrossNew PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -

ive got 3 good sized chips (unrepaired) on my transit and it still works fine. there is a tiny strip about 3mm wide strip at the bottom of the screen that recently doesnt clear, but this is nowhere near any of the chips.
its a great windscreen, if i was buying a new ford car it would definatly be a box to be ticked on the spec sheet....work permit granted!0 -
My original had a 3ft crack along the bottom and still worked.0
