Who exactly are Lowri Beck & why are they so DESPERATE to change our meter?

Woops you're right. I divided the days by the units used as opposed to the units used by the days. Please ignore everything I have said before. Well spotted Roger Black..

If you are ever in doubt that a Meter Operator (installs and maintains meter) should be working on your meter, phone your supplier and ask them which Meter Operator is appointed to your meter point. Only that MOP or an approved subcontractor can work on your meter, no one else is authorised to do so.

doubt the call centres would have a clue, half of them cant even think for themselves

Hi have just spotted this thread. I've worked for Lowri Beck for the last 3 years. We do change meters for many companies. We can only go on the information that the big companies send to us. So please be nice the the fitters and call staff :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi this is to madeabigmess.

I'm currently looking to get into meter installation and came across lowri becks website, it has an ongoing application for meter installers which I recently applied but was wondering if you could give me some further tips on how to get in? Also what is the job like and the money? Are they good to work for? I'm an electrician at present but am fed up and want a change of direction.

Any help and info would be great!

Have just had a text from a meter reader who works for EON to say that they are taking 60 meter exchangers on in the (presumably North East ) area . Eon are starting their roll out shortly so may be worth targetting them . They have been offering the work internally but there are very few meter readers who have electrical experiance and not many have been accepted. Also try G4S ( who I work for ) who are advertising internally also, but are choosy preferring experianced electrical workers.

The power companies are desperate to get people on these smart meters.
You have to ask yourself why.
The installers get a fat fee for doing it, that`s why they are desperate.

But don`t forget, these meters are OPTIONAL, you don`t have to have one.

Meter change is not optional if your meter has exceeded its service life.
(typically >20 years)
