Hello.
A relative had given me their laptop as they are having problems connecting to the internet. Here's what i've worked out so far.
Tried the laptop on several different wireless networks where we know the internet connection is fine - Laptop connects to the network, can access emails, but can't access the internet (via IE)
Installed firefox - same problem as IE - program opens, type in https://www.google.co.uk but the laptop never makes the connection and get "the connection was reset" error in firefox - so not a browser issue
pinged https://www.google.co.uk from the command prompt and get a reply - so the laptop is definitely connected to the net, just not resolving http traffic correctly.
Next steps are to try malware bytes jsut to see if it picks anything up.
Any other suggestions as to things i can test to try and work this out?

just downloaded malware bytes, (on my desktop) put it on a usb stick and installed it on the laptop. This installed and has successfully connected to the internet to update the database, so the "internet" is fine.
So it must be "something" to do with the browsers????0 -
might sound silly have a look at the firewall, they might have actually blocked the browsers on itDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
seem to have solved it.
Running windows defender and ESET V4 at the same time so must have been conflicting.0
