Dukan diet anyone?

Hi
Has anyone tried the Dukan diet?
Just wonder how it compares with slimming world, especially the extra easy side of things. I've recently shifted stone and half of blubber but am stuck and can't get things moving, not only that, I'm fed up of eating the same thing over and over again and just fancy a bit more variety in my diet.

There was a separate thread for the Dukan diet, but it's been merged with a general thread, unfortunately. I used to post there, but it's not so easy to keep up with the Dukan posts now that it's one large topic instead.
Try here, but you may have to search through for a little while to get to the Dukan bit: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2017519
I'm on it at the moment. Started on 5th October and had lost 17lbs at my last weigh-in - I'm due to weigh myself again tomorrow, so could be more. It's pretty strict, though, and I imagine that you'd probably have a lot less variety than with Slimming World. Dukan is mainly protein-based (certain meats, eggs, 0% fat yoghurts, etc) with veg (a few are banned) on alternate days. No carbs and cutting down on fat as much as possible - no cheese, no 0% fat products.
I'd say that it can work really well, though, even for those who have found it difficult to lose weight via other diets.0 -
Thanks for the reply, it sounds similar to theAtkins diet which I did years ago and really enjoyed doing it as I like lots of meat.
Here's hoping I can shift 7lbs by christmasBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

On Dukan, I shed 6lbs during my 6 day Attack period - so you should definitely lose 7lbs pretty easily. Liking meat certainly does help!0 -
Just wondering - is this thread active?
I had a look at general diet threads but Dukan is so different that it would make sense to have a separate thread for this really - very difficult to find Dukan related posts in general diet threads0 -
I'm interested in trying the Dukan diet aswell. I've heard great things about it, especially that it's strict but healthy. I can't imagine merging it into the main thread is a good idea, this is as specific as slimming world/celebrity slim etc.
Anone know a site which covers the basics without having to subscribe?I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
I've been on and off Dukan for the last 6 months. Lost 1st 10 pounds. This is a good website with the basic diet info and lots of dukan recipe ideas

It does work, but I have to confess, it's incredibly tough long term. I find I can only do it for short bursts before I've had enough. Not doing it again... sticking to a more balanced diet to shift my last stone.0 -
I am doing dukan just using the book...done 7 full days and have lost 9lbs.0

Have a look at www.minimins.co.uk they have a sub thread on Dukan diet as well as most other diet plans. Have just got back into it myself as need to lose before holiday in May and just trying to decide whether to try Dukan or not.0 -
Channel Four have it on "Will My Crash Diet Kill Me"
Some problems likely : -
Bad breath
Unhealthy relationship with food
Hard to stick to restrictive, strict and Complex plan
Dehydration early on can make you moody and lethargic
High protein danger to organs
Low fibre leads to constipation
Nutritional deficiencies0 -
High protein danger to organs - if you do not drink enough!
Low fibre leads to constipation - made worse by the low fat nature of the attack phase0
