NPower DD Anniversary Discount and new Contract with SP
Options
Just a note for the board,
FYI
I applied online to Scottish Power on the 19th for Online Energy 11 and received the contract by email on the 22nd
However today I received a letter from Npower advising me of my anniversary date of paying by DD to be 22 December. I read the conditions on the letter and decided to seek clarification
The payments leave my account on the 8th of the month. I called Npower to confirm that once the payments left my account on the 8th December will I still then qualify for the rebate of £100, even though I had made an application to switch from them.
It was confirmed yes I would still be eligible for the rebate if the DD payments went though on or around the 8th Dec
..

Think Npower DD discount is based on the anniversary of when they started supplying you which may not necessarily be the same date as the DD's are taken and I think so long as they are still supplying you on that date (i.e. the switch hasn't taken place) you'll still get it and it will be included in the closing account statement which will probably be in credit so they'll send you a check.
However, Scottish Power are super efficient and the switch goes through before Dec 22 then I'd assume you'd not get it.0 -

thats what I was guessing
To be a pedant, my query to npower was exactly that: do I need to be an existing customer AND have fulfilled my obligation to DD, the conditions did not set them out to be mutually exclusive and only mentioned "if you continue to pay this way without a break"
My understanding is that I do NOT need to be a customer after I have fulfilled paid all requests made on my account up to that date,... HOWEVER i could read it as; if I break the agreement (by no longer being a customer) before the 22nd even though they will not be sending a request for funds the refund will be void.
Similarily if I were to swap DDs, between two banks for example, I would essentially be breaking the initial agreement, even though they might still be honored on the demand for funds.
Its all in the wording and it is too vague. which is why I sought clarification which I thought I might share,
anybody want to run a sweepstake on whether or not the £100 will be included in my final statement?0
