Sygma cards - how easy to get?

Hi all

Just wanted to know how easy these were to get - its been a while getting to an even keel financially although I'm not there yet - does anyone out there know?

I've one default from 2008 for £300 which won't fall off for another 4 years - nothing else

thanks

They're not too hard to get - although with a default on the register you will be unlikely to qualify. - They're not that easy.

People do say there are only 2 types of criteria when it comes to cards, like sub-prime cards and prime cards and don't care what anyone says sygma are in between sub-prime and prime but more towards sub-prime.

They are very easy to get compared to prime cards, they will accept people for there cards who have no chance in getting a big (mainstream card)

Most prime cards like to give people with good credit reports around the 3k-5k limits on there cards, where as sygma its anything from £750
2k there normal limits,in other words sub-prime limits.

Remember their rates are variable so you could end up with a high 25% apr

I would also point out the creation card they do is different criteria and the best card they do,but have to earn 20k a year and if your credit report ain't to bad can't see that being to hard to get either.
  • They wouldnt accept me witha 5y 7 month old default for £43 from the water board when i moved house, nothing else changed in my report apart from the dafault dropping off and they accepted me about 3 months ago. However, others on here have had success with defaults on their file. If everything else is in order then apply and see

Well on their application page it does say not to have any defaults? I got a Silver card with them and with clean credit history.
Also, they were known to dish out ''Cifa's (fraud marker on cra files)
But give them a whirl, they also search Equifax.

    It's simple, they're a prime lender. They're not a Sub-Prime lender at all!

You can say what you want mate, what prime cards give out 25% apr's with a £750 credit limit.

I mean come on sutton what prime cards do you know that give people with defaults on their credit report a card.

What about the other month when someone came on a thread and said they have just been accepted for a sygma card with a blo0dy £250 credit limit, with 24.9% apr i don't know about you mate but to me that is seriously more towards sub-prime than prime.

    Prime my ar*e

Well as for your first oint I agree, not many issue Credit Cards with Defaults.

loads Star-fire, I know MBNA (Prime) HSBC (Prime) and there are many more who issue that APR. I even read that Egg have increased there APR.

On the other hand which Sub-Prime lender issues APR that low, none!! Vanquis, 34.9% APR same with Aqua and Capital one, they're over 10% lower, they're a prime card issuer.

Agreed mbna and hsbc are known for weird apr's.

When you say on the other hand what sub-prime lender issues APR that low, this was my point sygma giving out 25% APR is in-between sub-and prime.

Yes we all know sygma are down as a prime lender but with sub-prime APR's and sub-prime limits.
  • On the Sygma Silver mastercard FAQ's it says:

Finally, you need to have a clean credit history, ie, no arrears, defaults, County Court Judgements (CCJs), bankruptcies or Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs).

I have a completed IVA, started 2006 finished 2009 by way of full & final, and numerous settled defaults from 2006. On the positive side I have an O2 contract and a full current account with 'perfect' history (never overdrawn) since 2006, Argos card and Vanquis card from Feb 10 (2k limit) that have been run perfectly.

As I didn't 'need' the credit and was applying purely to try and improve my credit rating for a future mortgage I chanced applying (the credit search and possible rejection on my file wouldn't have affected me) and was accepted immediately online, the card came through and the APR is 18.9% with a 2k limit so very happy with that!
  • Well, I tried and got declined, I looked into the creation card as advised but that is a very low 16.9% APR so isn't a subprime, oh well back to the drawing board
