Excel - pasting a horizontal column of figures into a vertical one?

Options
It's a row of dates, going horizontally across the spreadsheet.
I want to be able to either
- sort it by row (not by column)

- or be able to transpose the spreadsheet, so that the rows become columns and vice versa

- or simply be able to copy a single row of dates, and paste them into a new column, where I will be able to sort them as they're now in a column.

Thank you.

Comments

  • copy the data, right click>paste special> tick the transpose box> ok

  • Thank you very, very, very much! :T
  • Alternatively Data, Sort, Options then sort left to right rather than top to bottom

  • That sounds an interesting option, but when I go to Data, then Sort, there is no "Options" option. Is there another way to get to that option? I'm using Excel 2003.
  • That's funny, I've got the dialogue box open in front of me and it's definitely there, also checked and I'm on Excel 2003 as well. It's at the bottom on the same line as the OK and Cancel buttons

  • Oops. My mistake. I was looking for an "Options" option to appear in the menu after "Sort".

I've just realised that if I click on "Sort", then wait for the pop up window to appear,
the "Option" button you mentioned is at the bottom of that window, just as you said.

Thank you, Bovvered. Between you and Dogs, my Excel knowledge has been substantially increased. :D
