Kwik Fit Service Question?
I need a 50,000 Mile Service on my ford KA... I have hurd its like £160 from a ford dealer.
Or £132 from kwikfit (FULL Service) including MOT.
What an earth is this difference between the 50,000 mile service at ford compared to full service at kwikfit ?
Very Confused!
Cheers

None at all, they both have a habit of taking your money, stamping your book and not doing the work you paid for. :rotfl:
I service my car myself, before I did this I ALWAYS marked the parts that should be changed so that I could tell the work had been done.
A local independent "under the arches" old boy mechanic is a far more reliable choice.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

When you go to Kwik Fit the inspection part of the service will turn up a whole bunch of things that need replacing that the Ford dealer would have missed, and Kwik Fit will be able to offer you a really good deal of just £285 + VAT on the parts and labour for these items because they wont actually replace them because they didn't need replacing in the first place.
All this service for the low low price of £132 how could you not go to Kwik Fit?0 -
I must admit my car goes back to Ford dealer as its on lease, and they do a good job even including a full valet.0

I'd avoid Kwik Fit..... My singular experience there when I was younger has ensured I will never, ever entrust my car to them.0

how are kwikfit able to get away with this !!!! then!? charging for replacing parts when they're not doing the work!?
(ah I can't say !!!!. the bit in the exclamation marks is a more offensive term for poo!)

They are pretty good at telling which customers know nothing about cars and thus can get away with it.
A tell tale sign of a customer knowing nothing about cars is that they are visiting Kwik Fit for any reason other than no-where else is open.0 -
I had went for one tyre to be replaced. Had no spare, and was photographing all day long, and had no time to change it.
One hour service. Called back after an hour, wasn't ready. Told two hours later. Called back, not ready. Was told 1700hrs. Called back, not ready. Manager promised it would be priority, and ready at 1800hrs.
1800hrs, same manager on duty. Listened to him talk to his girlfriend on the phone (the merits of a particular restaurant they were going to.) Finally he got around to dealing with me (accidently set my file on top of his phone terminating the call.)
My car had not even been looked at. His 'mechanic' looked quickly, before telling me they couldn't get the wheel off, as 'the old brakes are done, and need replaced.' They were new, a fortnight previously. I'd fitted them myself. Quoted xxx price. Not to mention the 'mechanic' couldn't have assessed the brakes without actually looking at them!
Leaned over the counter, took my keys, and my car, amidst protests from the manager that I owed them for replacing a tyre they had never touched.0 -

An example. My niece worked in Yorkshire paid Kwikfit £110 for front disc,s and pads. Two weeks later came home on way home brakes started squealing, I says bring it in to my place in the morning I will have a look. Up on ramp front wheels off, nice new pads, on old disc,s. Min thickness for discs was 18mm these were 20mm so she either got ripped off or she entered the RAC rally!0 -
Ford dealer is only £20 or so more than Thick Gits however...
The parts that need replacing will be - independents tend to change some that don't (fuel filter for example) and don't do some that do (pollen filter for example).
In addition AND THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT ON A KA the Ford dealer will stamp the bodywork inspection book so when you get rust on your car within the bodywork guarantee period, it'll be repaired for free whereas if there's no stamp or a stamp from Thick Gits, they'll welch out of the guarantee.
And if you're planning on selling in the next year or two, a full dealer service history is worth more than the additional £100 you'll have spent in servicing over the lifetime of the vehicle.0 -
Full service = an oil change and a check to find as many faults as possible to empty your pockets.
You need to check carefully what the "service" actually replaces, Most items are checks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
