Multiple postings- clogging up boards such as Grabbit

No doubt I'll get shot down in flames for even mentioning this however it's really p***ing me off so I'm going to have my say.

I've lost count of the number of duplicated/multiple posting of the same offers which are being listed now on this site, particularly in boards such as the "grabbit" forum. I appreciate it's Christmas soon and there are lots of bargains to be had but it's really not difficult to do a search using the nifty little fields at the top of the page before you post something.

That way your offer won't be listed a dozen times over and it will avoid the boards becoming needlessly flooded.

I actually think it's now actually causing people to miss things as there are so many pages on the likes of "grabbit" daily that they no longer scroll through them and actually are missing bargains due to others not taking the time to check for a posting first.

It seems all you do is pop the words "sorry if this has already been posted" at the start of your thread and it saves you the bother of looking.

The MSE site performance has been dire in recent days so duplicate postings must be contributing to that.

Come on people, get your act together and make life easier for everyone.

rant over, I feel slighlty better now I've got it off my chest:)

Some members may not be aware such a link or post has already been mentioned, you cannot rely on the "search" feature 100% because it is notorious for not finding duplicate posts, this is over and above the notion that new members may not even "know" how to use a search feature.

I have no problem finding any bargains by simply clicking the "new posts" feature, and generally DO scroll through a thread to find any I might have missed.

If anything I am more grateful for a member posting a link (whether or not it has been posted before), if I stumble across it as a result of me missing a previous post.

If a post has already been discussed, its not beyond complexity, to simply post "this has already been mentioned" and move on to the next post.

If it REALLY bothers you, a simple request to the MSE team to merge the post or delete the duplicate, is all it really takes. I would much rather a member take the risk in posting a good tip, rather than they assume its already been mentioned and that I have already found it.
