Looking for good free email software like Outlook

Hi
Couldn't find anything already posted sorry but I wanted an email software for free like Outlook where I can also put in 'appointments' and they alarm me when due (my memory is not getting better with age!)
Also I want an alarm to tell me when I get a new email message.
I don't have Microsoft Office (I downloaded Open instead).

Check out Thunderbird.
It's popular, free, and has lots of add ons, like Lightning, for Calendar management.0 -
I was going to say thunderbird as well but kabayiri beat me to it. Better security than outlook too.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

"Thunderbird" for email, and use the "Lightning" extension for your calendar. Both made by Mozilla who make Firefox.

Lightning is particularly good when used in conjunction with a gmail calendar (gmail is free) as you then can opt to get free SMS reminders etc.0 -

Another one which has been recommended by ComputerActive this fortnight is Zimbra Suite 2 . I stress however that I have never used the software nor can obviously endorse it as a product for that reason.Signaller, author, father, carer.0
