Car Rental - Hidden Costs

Just been searching for a one way car rental from heathrow to manchester, using all the usual sites.

Like always there are the massive lists of cars available starting from really low prices BUT!!!!

Watch out the advertised price is not what you will end up paying, they will add a one way charge, which on a one day hire can double the price, plus other insurance charges.

Why do we have to waste our time visiting each and every site to see how much more we have to pay over and above the advertised rate. Why is there not some rules about advertising the real price that you have to pay instead of all the 'hidden extras'

Is it not time that one of these search engines actually got hold of the real details and does a proper analysis and gives you a real price not half the story.
