Travel Insurance existing medical conditions

Options
I'm travellling to India in January for nearly a month and am trying to sort out travel insurance. Does anyone know of a company that will cover me for my asthma? I've checked out a few, but so far they all say they won't cover existing medical conditions, but if I lose an inhalor, my asthma gets worse in the heat etc or I encounter mould which I'm allergic to, I'd quite like to be covered!

I know I'll have to pay for the privilage but I want to be covered, just in case!

Google asthma sufferers travel insurance for lots of options.
  • There are quite a few travel insurers that specialise in pre-existing medical conditions.

You could try a company called PJ Hayman, they have a policy called free spirit which caters for pre-existing conditions.

Other companies worth contacting would be Pulse Insurance and Heath Lambert Insurance Brokers.

I have used tesco and post office before
  • I have always used Karma insurance and they have been very good. They cover a number of pre existing conditions including Asthma. I have just done a mock quote for you and for 28days it comes out about £34 if you remove the legal expenses cover and £39 if you dont.

I have had a clam with them albeit not for a medical problem and they were great,
  • Hello. Make sure you read the policy summary when doing your research and see if they have a "waived conditions" policy. It might be cheaper for you to go with normal travel insurance and see if your asthma can be "waived". I hopes this helps good luck.

tried to get a quote with Karma & they wouldnt cover any of my conditions but teh list of conditions they do cover is extensive & could be excellent for other people

I got my travel insurance with O2 (yes the mobile company) there is a link on their web site, it worked out cheapest for me to buy annual cover (can't understand why).

But have now found my bank will cover me (if I upgrade to a paid current A/c), I have a letter from their insurance company listing and confirm all my disabilities & all will be covered if I upgrade, this would of not only been cheaper than the O2 cover but would also include extra such as Car Breakdown cover, phone insurance etc.
