which car

looking for car for my daughter considering kia rio or hyundai i20 because of the 7/5 year warranty or fiat panda with 3 yr, as she lives a fair way from us so if a problem develops she can get the garage to sort it.A ny thoughts as to which would be the best buy thanks

You have picked the three that we ten to argue over on here quite a lot (plus the we citreon/toyota clone).

As most on here know I'm a Panda fan and I think it is great to drive(fun). Hard as nails etc. But I offered to get one for my niece and the reply was along the lines of "I wouldn't be seen dead in one". My daughter has one and the boss has one but they didn't get much of a choice :).

The other two are prettier (but to me slightly dull) but by all accounts they drive very well and the extended warranty is worth thinking about.

Check the residuals and I think you will find the Panda holds up very well (surprisingly so, with old Fiat reputation but Fiat were always best at small cars).

Seach back on here and you will see all the relevant threads, read the reader reviews on What Car (discount the nutters) and you will narrow it down.

    Is it a first car?

Fiat have 3yr warranty because they're crap for reliability..... Simple as that.

Is she going to keep the car longer than a year or so?

Actually the Panda seems to be an exception to the Fiat rule, it appears to be better made, and more reliable than the rest of their usual rubbish, probably because it is made in Poland.

The Hyundai i20 would be my choice, the Kia Rio is a dated design now, tho' still a good value car.

5/7 year warranty means 5/7 years of main dealer servicing - expensive.
I know you can use other garages etc but you have to prove their servicing is same spec as main dealer if a dispute arises.

Same rules apply to all car warranties, it is just that the Kia and Hyundai are longer, and therefore represent better value.

Of course, but longer can be more expensive. If you have to have vehicle serviced at a garage, when you would choose diy.
