I have a very simular laptop myself (Looks exactly the same)bought from currys, Its exelent for surfing the net and watching dvd's, I have a usb wirless adapter connecting it to my network and surfing the internet at BB speeds. I also have it plugged into my sterio to play back MP3's, which has exelent results. Ideal for downloading pictures onto too. Must admit it needs more memory but for that price you can not grumble.

If anyone one is looking for a cheep internet surfing machine then this is more than capable.

    PCCHIPS

They have a long standing reputation for being the worst motherboard manufacturer, and it's deserved.

Fake components, modified BIOSes to give fake values to the user, poor component quality, releasing virus infected BIOSes, poor build quality, terrible customer support.....

I would only take something by PC CHIPS if they paid me and even then I wouldn't use the item.

PC chips were all you say and more :)

However, if I'm not mistaken they were bought out by ECS and the standard has improved greatly

Do you have evidence of these claims?
Especially the one about virus infected BIOS's
I'm no fan of PCChips, but can only say that they produce poor standard Mobo's because everything is integrated and support is very poor.

That said, i still have a PCChipsLMR810 running fine for over 6 yrs as a fileserver.
    £2 savers club = £83.50
  • I have built many computers using PCChips motherboards. A couple of them are still running after several years.

The others suffered modem failures, sound failures and boot failures etc to the point where I just could not trust them any more (usually failing between 12 and 18 months after making them). Sadly I have grave suspicions about these laptops, probably unfounded and due only to the bias I now have because of dodgy motherboards, but I'd want a long warranty on one of these before I would consider buying one.

    Oh Dear.

    Been working too hard lately.

Didn't notice that it'd already been posted.
