Scottish Power useless when it comes to switching

I have been with SP for over a year with online saver 7 that ends next week.
So I phones SP last week to switch to the platinum fixed, yes sir no problem that is all done.

Then Monday gets an email informing me that if I do not change tariffs as an existing customer online saver 7 will be extended automatically to Dec 2011.
So checks my on-line account to find that my tariff still shows online saver 7 and not platinum fixed.
Phones SP on Tuesday and told that the switch of tariff had not been put on the system and that with computer problems last Friday this will now be sorted and to check account Thursday (Today) and the platinum fixed should be showing.

Checked 20mins ago and my account is now showing fresh start online tariff, not sure what this tariff is, but certainly not what I have asked for.

SP are quoting 6 weeks before the boiler gets inspected, so I have already lost at least 1 week, so now its at least 7 weeks till the boiler cover kicks in, is it worth staying on the fresh start tariff as may just take boiler cover elsewhere, not gonna phone again, are there cancellation charges with fresh start, what are the rates as there is no mention on the SP website..

    Not sure what has been happening with your account here. The Fresh Start tariff is our Social tariff and will ensure that you are effectively billed on the cheapest tariff available regardless of how you pay for your energy. I would recommend contacting us to confirm unit rates for your area.

    Thanks for the reply Colin, to be honest I just can't be bothered contacting SP again, I have done so twice in a week and on both occasions told Platinum fixed would be on the account in 24hrs.
    First time they did not apply it, second time they changed my account to fresh start online.

    During both conversations they run through the Platinum tariff, cancellation charges, boiler inspection dates, how long the fixed rate lasts etc but then do not put me on it.

    What more can I do? Was thinking of changing the tariff myself through my online account, but then again this fresh start tariff may work out to be a better deal for me if its a social tariff and just read that it does not go up in price until march with no cancellation charges.
