Should my gas and electricity bill be this high?

I just got my bill through from Npower for gas/electricity at £189 for my first quarter (just moved in end of July) My gas bill was £42.73 and my electricity was £146.09.
This seems really high to me
I'm single and live in a 2 bed flat. I've had the heating on about 3 times since I moved in.
any help would be much appreciated, TIA!

What is your heating? What is your cooking?
Have you checked the opening reads are correct - do they correspond with when you moved in (did you check the meters then?) There could be weeks or months of the previous occupants consumption (and standing charges) tagged on at the front of the bill.
£60 a month is not expensive if you are using things - it is if you aren't. Start by monitoring how much you use on an evening session and a daily session - read your meters often for a while until you have an idea whether or not something is amiss.0
