Anybody know where I can view a spec of this laptop?

Hi

I have a chance of buying a second hand Dell Latitude C540/C640 from someone. But they aren't sure of the spec.

Is there anywhere I can view it?

Also, what would they be worth roughly second hand?

£40-£50 if it works, very old model, battery will probably be useless, put c640 into google.

They're a Pentium 3 laptop typically with 128MB or 256MB of RAM and a 20GB Hard drive. Only good for doorstops or file servers.

The C610 was fitted with a Pentium III M CPU, the C640 was fitted with Pentium 4 M CPUs, according to this CNET review, still no great shakes:
The C640 lets you choose fast Pentium 4-M processors at 1.6GHz, 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, 2GHz, or 2.2GHz speeds. Memory ranges from 128MB to 1GHz; you should get at least 256MB, if not more. Hard drives range from 20GB to 40GB. The Latitude C640 we tested included a 2GHz Pentium 4-M, 256MB of memory, and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. (Dell also sells the C610, a less expensive configuration with slower Pentium III-M processors and a shorter standard support period that's targeted at medium and large businesses.) We recommend spending a little more for the beefed-up C640.

Install pcwizard or SIW on a pen drive and see what they tell you when run on laptop.

If you can get the service tag you'll be able to look up the original configuration on Dell's support site.

If it's working, the owner should be able to tell you the OS, the HD size, the memory size, etc from the machine itself....
