Buyer paid twice via paypal - best way to sort?

Hi - hope peeps can help me out here?
A buyer has paid me twice by accident - he has asked me to send him a cheque for the extra money he paid Paypal in error.

I have a couple of queries - I have been charged to receive the money, so actually there will be a cost to me for this, won't there?
Secondly, I just think it's odd he's asked for a cheque - why can't I just send him it back via paypal?

Is there some way to do this which will not turn out to be a load of hassle???

Many thanks

just refund one of the payments in paypal, it will go back into his paypal account if it was from the balance or onto the card he used to fund the payment - all the fees associated with the transaction will be refunded

There are scams regarding payments, refunds & cheques.
    Can't remember how they work.

    Something don't sound right.

  • Thanks to both - I have trawled through the paypal site and refunded the payment :)

Babylonian, I think you have done the exact right thing. It looks a bit odd for a buyer to be asking for a cheque refund on a paypal payment..I would have been very concerned. Refunding one of his payments also reserves the fees associated with it, and does not leave it open to a chargeback.
