We use to have them in our workshop but no insurance company would cover us, for obvious reason .We now use infra red , which are ok but not ideal.
We have a joinery workshop, looked into a woodburner producing hot air but they are so expensive.Wanted to get a briquette making machine to fuel it as we have bags and bags of extractor waste but they cost at least £5k to buy and 2nd hand are like rocking Horse poo.............Friday the temp in the workshop reached 4 degrees shouldn't be using machinery with the temps that low.
There doesn't seem to be a reasonably cheap solution to workshop heating..0 -
All those gas heaters create loads of water vapour. You may get condensation problems.0

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. We bought a basic convector heater which did the job for under £30:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-HS20-Convector-Heater-2kW/dp/B0000W5FSU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290897131&sr=8-1
It heated the room we were in quite nicely and we just moved it around (i.e had it in the living room when we were watching telly then OH took it upstairs to take the chill off the bedroom 20 mins or so before we went to bed).
We've got a smallish 3 bed semi and the heat output was quite surprising for the cost of the heater. We only needed ours for a couple of months - any longer than this then it might be worth looking at something different as these aren't the cheapest to run as far as I remember).0 -
Work really hard - you'll find you stay quite warm!
Sorry - couldn't resist.
I'll get me coat then.

I'd go for calor gas every time, like others have said you don't need to have it on full blast, just enough to take the chill off.
You could probably get a couple of quid for it when you've finished with it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

So today we went to work as normal and it was freezin!
My mate kept saying how cold he was in the first 5 mins, he sounded like Nikki from big brother - "It's SOOOOOOOO COLD!!"
Lol.
So we popped to B&Q, and I bought a couple of little fan heaters.
I got this 'teardrop' one at £25 and this smaller one which has been reduced to under £10. (Plus the box was damaged with so I got them to knock a £1 off in true MSE style).
Of the two I think teh smaller one is better! I'd have bought a few of them, but it was the last one in store.
Albeit they're probably not teh most economical, though they won't be used every day of the week as production is slow at the moment. They did seem to do the job though. I have another little fan heater there anyway. Once they were all on the power soon tripped as I only have one source of electrics - eeek. So had to down power on a few things.
We managed ok. The more I'm boarding walls with good insulation in, the more toastier the rooms will be - until I'm ready to hang all the rads etc.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!
