Uncancelled phone insurance- reclaiming money

I have only just found out that I have still been paying for a phone insurance that I cancelled 18months ago . I have called the insurance company and they have looked into it ( they said that 97% of calls are recorded but couldn't find my cancellation call ) and they said the poilicy was never cancelled . They have offered me a 6 months refund as a " good will jesture" but that is as far as they will take it . I'm not happy with this at all as I know I defianlety cancelled the policy !!! I told them that I wasn;t happy with this and will be looking into taking this further. Does anyone know what my next step should be ?

How did you cancel?
Do you have proof if not then you may find it difficult to move them from the goodwill offer - after all if you paid monthly and your statements quite clearly shows the amount every month ?????
