itunes wont open so i cant update my iphone :-(

the following msg appears when i plug my phone into my pc or else when i try to open itunes on its own.
the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes.
we have 2 iphones that use the same itunes account to buy music, apps etc
any ideas on how to sort this?

Sounds like you installed an older version of Itunes on top of a newer version.
Just go to the Apple site and download 10.1Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Don't worry about the account you download music on. You Apple ID stays static on their server so you can log in whenever you want to. Do what redcard said; you probably re-installed v9.0
