Cold water has a funny taste

Our water really has tasted funny over the last couple of weeks. Even when boiled it tastes bitterish. My husband changed the tap on the kitchen sink, but surely that would not be affecting the taste of the water. Is ther anywhere I can get it tested?

Short answer - don't know but if you peruse these there may be a way without it costing an arm and a leg.

It can if he used the wrong fittings.
Some flexible hose, jointing compounds, washers, flux, solder etc etc should not be used for household hot & cold water supplies. Not Again0 -
Hi,
Did he use any jointing compound when connecting the water?
Did he use any flexi connectors (apart from any that were supplied with the tap)?
Jointing compound might leach into the water.
Some cheap flexi connectors are made from with poor quality liners.

hi, this happened to me when i changed our kitchen sink taps for a new mixer tap i bought. The water tasted "funny" for about 2 - 3 weeks but slowly went. I found if i ran the water for a minute it was ok but the first bit was awful. I was told it was to do with the flexi connectors and would soon go, and i can say it did.0

Was the tap changed BEFORE the water started tasting funny or AFTER?

So did I at first but then on reflection, from the way its is phrased, it could be that they changed the tap because the water was tasting funny. Worth asking.1984ReturnsForReal wrote: »I read it as a definite change of tap & then the water started tasting funny
