Salmonella poisoning from carribbean

Hi,
We went to the carribbean a few weeks ago, and my youngest, (13 months) started suffering from diarrhea a few days in. The rest of the family had it too & the other family we went with, so we didn't think too much of it out there, weather, climate, dif tastes etc..
Well, my baby has continued since we got back, and have now had it diagnosed from the dr's as salmonella poisoning. Baby was weighed by health visitor before we went, then again yesterday, and had lost almost a pound, in just over a month.
When I started looking up about it, the first few sites that flagged up were like 'no win no fee' places. Now, I was furious when I got off the phone from dr, and called travel company (as an all inc package holiday), and they've told me to put it in writing. Am I best just sticking with it & dealing with it myself???
I'm so angry that my baby has ended up so poorly. Weight loss, not eating, lethargic, crying, clingy, not chatting...
Any advice welcome.

Don't take a young baby on holiday to a far flung place with doubtful hygeine.0

I'm afraid these things happen and are not necessarily anyone's fault. Unless the hotel you stayed at has a history of incidents and the tour operator failed to get improvements made, I'm not sure why you should expect compensation. Hope your baby is on the mend - I'm sure it was very worrying0

You are the one that waited, you should have gone to the doctors immediately on return if the little one was still ill when you got off the plane or any time after.0 -
