Esa sanction?

Options
Due to mental illness i have been claiming esa for about a year and 3 months now.
i recently attended a medical assesment and passed and was told i would recieve moneys backdated to the 14th week of my claim. This has been confirmed and is correct.
Basically my problem is , i rang to ask how much this amount would be and i was told i failed to attend a meeting on 22nd august 2010. i recall this date and i recall a sanction being placed and i also recall me attending a work focused interview towards the end of september 2010 right before my assesment thus the santion was lifted. So why have they suddenly placed a sanction on my claim? and they say they will owe me no backdated money if there is a sanction? is thi correct some help :( thanks

How long was the sanction given for, and was money deducted from money you have already received?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • they did not say , they told me to have my working links advisor email them. at the momment i recieve £185.00 every 2 weeks as am paying back a loan. this is with the sanction on i believe.when i had a sanction placed between end of august - september my esa went down to £122? at 100% so i do not understand if they have made a mistake? will this "sanction" which they say happened in august (which they already know about) effect my back pay? im so onfused they already lifted the sanction for the same missed meeting

You need to ask them to clarify the relevant figures in writing, including how long the sanction was for.

Is this your first medical? It seems an incredibly long time to have waited.

  • it was indeed , i passed it. im just confused as to why this has came out of no where. the sanction i had was lifted and now they are bringing up the same sanction? they said i wont receive any back pay if a sanction has been in place? is this correct or do they mean for the period the sanction was active? thanks

I would expect that they mean you will not receive any increase for the period of the sanction. A sanction should not cancel out the whole backpayment.
