Unable to install Recovery Console from XP recovery disc (Combofix problem)

You are running the recovery console from your CD. I would follow stilltheone's advice above to copy from CD to your windows install. Or download it as Spakkers post.
Just to add though, Combofix should still run without the recovery console, but will not remove some infections. It will still produce a log.0 -
Why are you running combofix? How do you know your computers infected?
Why havnt you removed all traces of symantec? Have you run malwarebytes?
Id advise removing incredimail too personally
You should NEVER run combofix 'on a whim' if you dont have a clue what your doing:idea:0 -

***NOTE - ive left out INCREDIMAIL as it can be a nightmare to get right***
Uninstall AVAST
Uninstall REGISTRY MECHANIC
Uninstall INCREDIMAIL (If possible)
run combofix
Should I now try and remove all traces of Incredimail?

I would suggest sticking to the same thread in future
Just run combofix and forget about the recovery console part
Please also post a link to your original thread:idea:0 -

I don't see how the PC could have been further infected since then (data dongle/discs have only been in library PCs).0 -
erm
So you dont want help anymore?:idea:0 -
I'm quite sure that Donnie did not advise the use of ComboFix. Much more likely that the OP was trying to use ComboFix anyway, but got stuck on the installation of the Recovery Console.
I'm quite confident that Donnie has never suggested that someone use ComboFix on this forum.
In fact, in the thread to which you linked it appears he tries to discourage you from doing so.
AlienRik suggested it in this post which was nearly two months ago.
I think we have all lost track of what it is that you are doing and what you are trying to do.
You post logs showing that your machine has XP SP3, but yet you tell us that you are trying to install SP2.
Why is it that you need to send an email from this PC in particular? Clearly it's not an urgent email.
Do you really not have any friends who can download a file on to a USB drive for you?
I mean, really.... it's been nearly two months. Now it's December and you are no closer to a solution.
To get support for your USB dongle using a barebones distribution, you will likely need to download and install updates anyway. For that you will need Internet access.
I hope your machine has USB 2.0 slots, otherwise you will face another problem.
So, what exactly are your goals? You have too many threads, perhaps six in all and now I have no idea if this is all just a bad joke.0
