Personally, I wouldn't touch secondary double glazing with a bargepole - had it myself before and it was useless. I'd go for new double glazed windows, preferably triple glazed. Do remember though you will want windows open at some stage! Summer might be very noisy, and you will be exposed to a lot of dirt and polution.
Others are saying you can get properties in nearby areas... worth a thorough look on rightmove. Can't see why you'd choose a house so near a motorway when there are likely to be better options...

From a sellers perspective, I expect the seller will take 230k. They will know that the one next door went for that price and will want the same. Hense the EA putting it up for 250k, to allow someone to knock them down.
That said, a house identical to mine, same condition inside & out, but with a much smaller garden and next to a petrol station in my road sold 8 weeks ago for about 11% more than ive been offered on my house. So on that basis, the house you are looking at should be worth £204k.0 -
On other note, what would it roughly cost for putting a roof on the garage.0

Flat roof? Not a great deal. No more than £1500 I should think.
I got your pm, thanks. I am relieved for you!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Ive lived near a motorway most of my life, sometimes the noise is more noticeable, if i could afford to move i would move to somewhere quieter, you might not get used to the noise.0

£250K for a link detached in West Brom ????0 -
Its a buyers market, find something nicer in a better location at a better price.0

Looking around there are much better value places.
unless this place you are looking at is very large
If this is not a long term move you could get something for £150-£200k and hit the mortgage hard on £75k income making the next move the perfect one.
Remember going in near £250k can give you problems later if price do go up but only a bit with a £250k being a barrier price till you get closer to £270k due to SDLT.
THis looks much better value for money

How is it currently linked?
Is it just by this garage door or more making it a semi.
Roof will probably need party wall and you may not get cooperation0 -
`hi Getmoreforless,
It was very kind of you to forward me some links. The house is linked to next property just by the garage door. At the rear there is a utility room. I was thinking of putting a roof and linking garage door with the utility room roof.0
