                                  in Credit cards

Last week I received a notice of default from Santander Consumer Credit advising me of a late payment charge of £12. As I pay my card balance in total each month by direct debit I wasn't very happy, so I phoned to tell them so.
The phone number they gave me on the letter put me in contact with the fraud department, so after explaining what and why I wanted a different department, I was advised to send an email because the phone lines were all busy. I did this, and received an automated response saying that they would reply within 48 hours. That was 5 days ago and no reply. So I phoned again and was directed to a recorded message explaining that they knew these notices had been sent out, and that the £12 would be credited next month.
I assume that they have sent these notices to a lot of people due to the fact that they have set up a recorded message.
I wonder how much interest they will gain from all of those £12 charges, and also if I paid my outstanding balance this month, minus the £12, would they try to charge me interest on it next month.
Rant over.

Presumably nothing as they just add it to your credit card balance which is their money anyway! :rotfl: My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this. :rotfl: My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

You have something far more serious to worry about...the reporting of said 'late payment' to the credit reference agencies.I wonder how much interest they will gain from all of those £12 charges, and also if I paid my outstanding balance this month, minus the £12, would they try to charge me interest on it next month.
If you get your formal complaint in now you might be at the front of the queue that will surely be forming (and will be a very large one, if the numerous posts on this board are anything to go by).0

I have had a Santander Credit Card for a few years and this has happened to me on at least 2 occasions. I also have 2 other ongoing complaints with them. The first is that I sent £10 payment for copies of old statements. They wrote back saying they could not provide these and would return my £10, but cashed it anyway. I am in the process of trying to recover this. The second involves a much larger sum of money, which I feel I should be able to claim under the 1974 Consumer Credit Act. They won't pay out (that's another debate), but they won't give me a reason why - just letters saying we will not pay this and the case is now closed! I know other people caught in the same scam as myself and their cards (Barclays and Halifax) have apparently agreed to refund them!
Their online contact system is pointless as they just seem to wait 2 weeks to reply and then only send you an address to complain in writing to!
I would strongly advise anyone with a Santander card to close the account and get out as soon as you can!0

Aha now I know why my ASDA credit card statement has gone missing in the post this month; they're trying to incur a late payment charge on me!!! Luckily I knew it didn't arrive and have paid the outstanding amount regardless :beer:0

As i said it could be any bank. I have had no problems what so ever yet my other half and a friend at work was with the same bank which i shall not name and they had all kinds of problems. My Wife moved to another bank and my friend moved to Santander when they just broke into the U.K market after their takeovers neither of them have had any problems. I bank with two other banks current account isa and joint account and until recently have been with one of them a very long time but their intrest rate for the isa was rubbish so have moved on allthough i had no problems over the years. If i have problems with the two new one's it will be moving again. But to say things are more likely to go wrong with Santander does not hold water not in my case anyway. I suspect you have had a bad experience with Santander but at the end of the day it could of been any bank. Your just a number0

I have a Asda (SANTANDER . GE were much better ) credit card, before Xmas I had £22 in vouchers on my statement which they said were enclosed, they were not, complained to customer services, got bounced around different departments, one in India said I would receive them in 2 weeks, it took 6 weeks after more complaints, then they credited to my account. More trouble ensued after that, no statements, late payment charges and interest, phoned customer services they told me statements had been sent, paid it all off assuming that was just a postal error although my other credit card and bank statements including their late payment and interest letters arrived OK!
Did not use this card for a while, then used it once more in April, same again, no statement, but late payment letter including interest, next day late payment letter. So phoned customer services , they said again statements have been sent. I had registered online with Asda in January but could not see any statements, I told customer services this , they bounced me around a few different departments, then one in India ( I think ) this person told me "I can only have statements online " to which I replied I have not received any statements , online , paper or email, he said he would look in to this and kept me on the phone for 34 mins, then I hung up. After all this I decided to email Asda credit card account manager customer services, I told them all what I have said earlier, 2 days later I received a reply, which said statements had been sent, no sympathy at all, I emailed them back to cancel my credit card account, next email I received off them told me to log in to my account, which it would not let me , SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hope whosoever reads this will make their own mind up,
Wish someone would start a website so everyone that has been done by these uncaring companies could share their experiences. Thanks for reading0
