Inputting my Bank Details to PayPal

Hi,

I want to make my Paypal account verified, and to do this I need to link my bank account to my PayPal account.

I'm just not sure which details to input. I'm with HSBC, I have a MyAccount and a MySavings. (I'm 16). I wish to link the MyAccount only, which is a current account.

I won't use my real name, but lets say I'm called David Harry Johnson.
PayPal wants my first name and my surname. The surname field is NOT edittable, it appears as Johnson and this can't be changed.

But the first name CAN be editted, it currently says "David", but I'm not sure what to put. It asks me to put exactly what it says on my statement, which lists the account name as "Mr David Harry Johnson".

So what do I put in the first name field? Do I put David? Do I put David Harry? Or do I put Mr David Harry?

Also, do I put the bank as HSBC or HSBC Bank plc?

The reason why I ask is that I'll get charged if the details are wrong, and this is something I obviously want to avoid so I thought I'd try my luck on here.

Thankyou. :)

    Put David.

    Middle names don't usually matter.

and HSBC Bank PLC. is fine.

just put your name as displayed on your bank account, then if any problems arise you can provide proof via your account statements / card / chq book etc.

once verified I suggest you remove your current account. We have a empty savings account linked to PP used withdrawals only, I would NEVER let PP anywhere near the real current account.

I also suggest you link a credit card as your main method of payment, so if anything goes wrong it is not your money being mucked around etc, also you can raise a complaint via your CC provider.

He's 16, so won't have one. And technically shouldn't be using PayPal ;)
  • I was so concerned about the risks with PP that I missed the mention of age.. D'oh !

  • why are you using paypal at 16? they verify your bank account by sending two small debits into your bank account you check your account and then enter the two values on the paypal site. should that still be possible to do?
  • it is indeed still possible to do as i do it every so often
