plenty of moans but who is good?

Options
Plenty of people post bad experiences here but what about good ones. Can anyone list the companies who have given really good service? It's a bit hit and miss guessing who those might be.

Had good service from LLoyds tsb 2 years ago.

We picked our own (local) repairer.
Hire car was very nice (a Saab).
Excess was low (£50) and they also allowed me (the spouse) to drive the hire car.
I was concerned about being stuck with a high excess or not having named driver use but there were no issues with this.
They also brought the hire car to the repair garage. It wasn't a long way but obviously we weren't in a position to drive there after dropping off the car.

I also believe they had reasonable admendment fees when I was investigating adding someone to the insurance.
It wa only to drive us to the airport so it was important that the fees were not prohibitive for 1 or 2 days use and they were very reasonable.

Of course companies change and this was 2 years ago.

My FIL had good service from Norwich Union 4 years ago but I understand they ahve gone downhill a lot since becoming Aviva, so make sure any recommnendations you get are based on relatively current info adn not 5 or 10 years ago.

Was your accident Non Fault Lisyloo? You tend to find most insurers are 'great' then and let you pick your own garage/give you like for like hire as they're not paying it

It was a third party claim where I was at fault, so my insurer were paying.

As it happens the third party was my husband :o
So his car got fixed on my insurance as a third party claim (hope that makes sense).

I guess though that the 3rd party was going direct (rather than through their own insurer) which is generally cheaper for them as they can control the costs.
