How much to cut down large fir

Hi all,
Have a fir tree in front garden - about as tall as two storey house and quite thick. SUrveyor advised it may create subsidence problems in summer and advised getting rid of it.

Any one know how much an arborist, or tree surgeon might charge to remove it?

Thanks

Our surveyor also advised us to cut down trees this summer. He did not advise that they should have been cut down a third at a time. If its a risk I'd consider finding out whether in your cse its better to remove all in one or a third at a time for three years.

Thanks - that's not something i'd ever heard about but makes sense. Anyone any idea about the cost - either to do in one go or perhaps just to do a third? I'm in Brighton. Cheers

You`d be nuts to leave it alone. There`s a surgeon in your area called Theresa Green. She`s in Hastings, but is looking to branch out.

Sorry, I meant it as a light joke, not as unsympathetic sarcasm. I hope your tree problem is resolved soon.

EDIT TO SAY I SAW YOUR THANKS NOW :)

My neighbour has a tree taller than this and has just been quoted 750.00 + vat
  • When you consider most trees have to be cut down piecemeal to save damage to property its not a lot. Their insurance alone would be horrendous.
