I am hoping to transfer my deposit this week to my solicitor in preparation for exchange. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the money to clear? Thanks

My solicitor has, in the past, asked for 5 working days to allow cheques to clear. Could you arrange a BACS transfer instead? It's much quicker usually 2/3 workign days."Put the kettle on Turkish, lets have a nice cup of tea.....no sugars for me.....I'm sweet enough"0

If you pay by BACS transfer, it can take up to 4 working days (some banks will say up to 5 working days, but generally it takes 3-4). This is normally a free service.
If you pay by CHAPS transfer (sometimes also called an Electronic Funds Transfer), it will be in the solicitors account the same working day (banks will normally charge you about £20 for this service)."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
