Hi -
My office PC is driving me nuts and turning itself off 3 or 4 times a day and is now not connecting to the internet properly so have decided to buy new one (this is 5 years old)
Just wondered if anyone had suggestions as what I need to look for? Its mostly used for email / internet and then excel spreadsheets but I ofter have lots of things running at the same time so does that mean I need one with a lot of RAM?
Any sub £500 recommendations appreciated,
Many Thanks
Clare

You obviously have your heart set on a new system but your existing one may simply be suffering from an accumulation of dust and dirt which is causing a build up of heat and the shut downs are a safety feature. Taking the side off and giving everything a good blow out with a can of compressed air may work wonders, especially if the fan that cools the CPU is covered in dust and fluff.
For new systems, Dell would be the obvious place to look first as you can then use their price and specs as a comparison with other suppliers. A minimum of an i3 processor, 3-4Gb of RAM and Windows 7 Home or Professional should sort you out.0 -
Thank you! I didnt even think that dust might be causing the problems! I'll give it as a go as i'd rather not buy a new one if I can help it but haven't been able to any work this week due to the constant shut downs.

does the computer give you any error messages when it shuts down? if so can you tell us what they are?Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
If / when it does it again i'll copy the report over.....0
