I have just received my closing bill from EDF(now with Scottish Power) The final meter readings are nowhere near what I submitted.Spoke to EDF and they have said the numbers are those that I gave to Scottish Power who then submitted to EDF(with a slight adjust for any extra days from reading date) Reading gave on 20 Oct, changeover 25 Oct and according to whoever messes about with the figures I have used 409 day units and 37 night units(in five days!!!) If their figures were correct that would mean I have only used 8 day units since switchover(according to reading on meter today)
So, if you are switching over, check closing bill from previous supplier very carefully(or even better don't switch!!)

I am doing exactly the same
I was thinking of given them a low reading because I pay more for edf...and then if they add any on It, it will be ok

LOL why didn't I think of that!! Although having it 400 odd units out is a bit extreme.

OK an update because the fault apparently(according to Scottish Power) lays with EDF. Scottish Power have my 'correct' meter reading on record and say that they have not yet submitted them to EDF because they are still waiting on EDF to supply meter numbers etc.
Scottish Power are going to contact them to correct figures etc. If the fault is with EDF (which wouldn't suprise me-bad service throughout year with them) then their final bill is nothing less than lies and theft..

Difficulty is that the energy companies will see this thread and think we are all dishonest liars and cheats.

I had terrible problems switching from atlantic to npower. Once I noticed that the final bill readings at Atlantic did not match starting readings at Npower, it tooks months to sort out, in the end I wrote to both of them saying that I did not care one iota the actual figures and they must come to an agreement, as I was very angry about being charged for the same units by both utility companies.

One excuse they constantly offered was that "people do not tell the truth".

makes my blood boil essentially being accused of being a liar:mad:
