Moving House with bad Credit History

My husband and I are hoping to move house soon, but my credit history is a worry.
We have recently applied for a loan (in my husbands name) to pay off our credit cards, but 2 companies have refused us. I always make monthly payments to my 2 credit cards, but in the past year the payments have been late, and not as much as the company needed paying.
Now we are thinking of selling our house and moving, will my history have a negative impact, or will the fact we have never been late or missed any of the mortgage payments? We have paid our mortgage for 15 years now, with no problems.
How do we stand on the house move?
