No idea if I'm posting this in the right place. I hope so.
I'm posting on behalf of a friend who is on a debt management plan. She wasn't happy with the debt management company and so opted to change to another one. This would be the first month paying the new plan.
She informed company what she was doing. They weren't very happy but seemed to have accepted it. She then had arranged for money to go to new debt management company. However, old debt management company have this morning taken the payment anyway.
It wasn't set up on a direct debit from what I understand - it was a debit card payment that was set to occur each month. She had cancelled the card to avoid this happening.
Should they have done this? Is there anything she can do to get the money back. Bank say there is nothing that can be done.
Sorry that the details are vague at the moment.

She should first contact the DMC to discuss this and they should refund it if it genuinely is an error, if it's not an error, she should get a clear and concise explanation why.
If she's not satisfied with this explanation, she may be able to initiate a chargeback to recoup the funds, depends on what payment card she used.0 -
Thanks. It was a debit card I believe that the payment was taken from.
She has just text and said that basically the money has gone from account but it doesn't say who has taken it yet & bank says it could take two days to show up.
Trying to get more info so that you guys can help me help her. Thanks!I'm quite worried for her as it basically has left her with very little money to last for one month!
