Options
My machine needs an overhaul and have decided to do a clean install. Question is: how do i save bookmarks and internet connection settings. Is this possible?

You can save your bookmarks as a .htm file on your computer. As long as you have a flash drive or an external hard drive then you would be able to save the file on it and then put it back on when you re-install. Alternatively you could use an online account like dropbox or skydrive to keep the file or you could email it to yourself.

This is how you save the bookmarks as a file:

As for your browser settings, you will be unable to do this because re-installing the OS will re-install the browser and wipe the settings. I'm sure it wouldn't take that long to re-do though.

The OS is XP. This has been previously suggested. I was told that windows backup was located in the system tools folder, but when I looked it wasn't listed

If you are after Explorer Bookmarks just save this folder:-

    C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Favorites

What connection settings do you need to save normal practice these days it to connect to a router so just plug it on or wireless and your good to go.

    Unless it is email settings?
