My machine needs an overhaul and have decided to do a clean install. Question is: how do i save bookmarks and internet connection settings. Is this possible?

You can save your bookmarks as a .htm file on your computer. As long as you have a flash drive or an external hard drive then you would be able to save the file on it and then put it back on when you re-install. Alternatively you could use an online account like dropbox or skydrive to keep the file or you could email it to yourself.
This is how you save the bookmarks as a file:

As for your browser settings, you will be unable to do this because re-installing the OS will re-install the browser and wipe the settings. I'm sure it wouldn't take that long to re-do though.0 -
What OS is it? Can't you use windows backup to restore your stuff, after re-installing?0

If you are after Explorer Bookmarks just save this folder:-
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Favorites
What connection settings do you need to save normal practice these days it to connect to a router so just plug it on or wireless and your good to go.
Unless it is email settings?jakswan .co. uk Just me droning on about Gadgets and the Wife, two kids, massive mortgage, yes it is boring:p0
